From the get go Rescue Me was designed to be surreal and somewhat sad. Upon seeing the dolphin source I kept visualizing an upside down scene in which the dolphin appears from above. Research about dolphins came up with the keyword "rescue." I found a suitable woman to be rescued, altered her face to make it sad and somewhat despondent. The woman, necklace pendant, diver, and turtle are all from istockphoto.com. Image was overlaid with a soft blue to tie everything together. Lots of gradient mask blending to hide and reveal the various image parts. Rescue Me won 1st place out of 61 entries in an annonymous prize contest.
